ISLAMABAD: Services sector trade deficit in the country during first two months of current financial year (July-August) shrank by 18.56 percent as compared the corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-August, 2018, exports of services witnessed 2.40 percent growth , where as imports of services into the country went down by 8.65 percent, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

During first two-month, country exported services worth US$ 858.25 million as against the exports of US$ 838.10 million of same period of last year, hence showing a positive growth of 2.40 percent.

Meanwhile, imports of the services into the country in two months went down from US$ 1,773.40 million and reached at US$1,619.99 million during the period under review, witnessing a negative growth of 8.65 percent.

As compared the corresponding month of last year, services trade deficit reduced by 42.29 percent in month of August, 2018 as against the corresponding month of last year. During the period under review services exports grew by 5.82 percent and was recorded at US$ 452.03 million as compared the exports of US$ 427.16 million of same month of last year.

Meanwhile, imports of services into the country decreased by 19.02 percent in month of August, 2018 and was stood at US$ 715.12 million as compared the US$ 883.03 million of the corresponding month of last year.

In month of August, 2018, services trade deficit narrowed by 47.24 percent as compared the month of July, 2018.

The exports of services was recorded in August was recorded at US$ 452.03 million as against US$ 406.23 million of the month of July, which was up by 11.27 percent, where as the imports of services was recorded at US$ 715.12 million as against the imports of 904.87 million of last month.
