LAHORE: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Jawad Akram on Monday said that due to seasonal change, heavy rains are expected in next few days.
Presiding over a meeting here, he said that orders have been issued to administration of all the districts to remain alert to cope with any emergent situation.
He said that due to better planning and coordinated strategy, the natural calamities like flood can be coped with effectively, adding holidays of government departments throughout the province have been cancelled.
Jawad Akram said that DCOs have been directed to regularly inspect protective bunds and spurs and monitor the water situation and added that flood control rooms in all the districts have been activated and linked to master control room set up at PDMA.
He said that instructions have been issued for immediate and speedy arrangements for disposal of water in cities in view of possible rains.
