The blue-chip CSI300 index was up 0.18pc, with its financial sector sub-index higher by 1.14pc, the consumer staples sector up 0.3pc and the healthcare sub-index down 0.46pc.
At the close, the Shanghai Composite index was down 1.72pc at 3,223.18, while the blue-chip CSI300 index was down 1.92pc, both posting their biggest one-day percentage drop since Sept 9.
The Shanghai Composite index was up 0.2pc at 3,320.89, after flirting with small losses in the afternoon session. The index jumped 3.1pc a day earlier.
