Representatives of Libya's interim government will join US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as well as the foreign ministers of France and Egypt at the UN-sponsored talks.
Blinken "stressed the importance of cooperation and transparency regarding the origin of the virus," including allowing WHO experts back into China, State Department spokesman.
"He also called on Beijing to cease its pressure campaign against Taiwan and peacefully resolve cross-Strait issues," a State Department statement said.
Blinken reiterated support for returning to the nuclear accord, with which UN inspectors said Iran was complying before Trump pulled out the United States.
The two officials, who met in San Jose, Costa Rica, also discussed advancing more fair and equal distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in the region, the government statement said.
Speaking after his meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Blinken said the United States would also provide $5.5 million in immediate disaster assistance for Gaza and $32 million to United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
