KARACHI: Polio immunization campaign commenced here on Tuesday to cover a target population of 694,484 under five children in 49 different union councils, pertaining to 15 different towns of Karachi.
Security arrangements in all these UCs has been beefed up while error proof arrangements are claimed to have been made for the exercise.
We have particularly ensured that the vaccinators' teams necessarily visit each of the house and administer oral vaccine to the under five children at their door-step during the four day exercise, said Dr. Zafar Ejaz.
Officials talking to APP said current campaign is not being held in Lyari, Malir and Shah Faisal Colony.
The campaigns, otherwise were said to be conducted at regular intervals to necessarily ensure that all under five children are provided with needed protection against the crippling diseases.
In reply to a question, they said fixed vaccination centres are also operational in each and every town of the metropolis and a special strategy has been developed to see that parents are duly motivated to get their children vaccinated against all vaccine preventable diseases provided at these centres free of any cost.
