rain-drop 400PESHAWAR: The Metrological Station here Thursday predicted scattered rain/thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during next 24 hours that will make the weather cold and chilly.

 

The cold wave has gripped Peshawar valley since morning due to westerly wave, which is affecting most parts of the country and is likely to persist for next three days, a Spokesman of Met Office told APP.

He said rain with snow fall is expected in different parts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa because a fresh westerly wave is affecting most parts of the country and likely to persist during next 2 to 3 days.

 

He said scattered rain/thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is predicted in Upper Punjab including Islamabad, KP, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan whereas, more scattered rain is expected in Northeast Balochistan, Upper Sindh, South Punjab during evening/night and Friday. Rain is also predicted for Mardan, Swat, Bannu, DI Khan, Peshawar while chances of rain-snow in Parachinar during the said period.

 

In next 48 hours, widespread rain with isolated heavy fall and snowfall over the hills is expected in Upper KP, Upper Punjab, North Balochistan, Upper Sindh, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday and Saturday.

 

The cold air is started blowing in Peshawar, making the weather very cold and chilly and forcing people to wear warms cloth.

 

In last 24 hours, weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country, however, scattered rain occurred in Balochistan, Upper Sindh, South Punjab, South Khyber Pakthunkhwa.       Khuzdar has received maximum 45milimeter rain followed by Kalat 30mm, Bhakkar16mm, Quetta(Samungli) 16mm, Dadu and Zhob 15mm, Panjgur 13mm, Barkhan and D.G.Khan 12mm, D.I.Khan and Moenjo Daro 11mm, Jacobabad 10mm, Rohri and Larkana 8mm, Khanpur and Rahim Yar Khan 7mm, Bannu 6mm and Jhang 5 mm.

 

The minimum temperature was recorded at Parachinar -6 C followed by Astore -4 C, Skardu, Gupis & Kalam -3 C and Hunza -2 C respectively while pollen count remained 18 per cubic meter.
