imageISLAMABAD: A group of French investors, traders and businessmen will visit Pakistan soon to look for more opportunities of investment and explore ways to do trade with Pakistan.

This was announced at a briefing at the conclusion of a 3-day visit of Pakistani businessmen to Paris. The group met their French counterparts to discuss possibilities and potential of enhancement of mutual trade and investment, said a message received from Paris here on Thursday.

This was the first interaction of businessmen of both the countries in private sector. The group of Pakistani businessmen included representatives of around twenty companies from textile, agro-based industries, food, energy, power, fertilizers, water purifications, telecommunications, cement and trading sectors.

They had meetings in French business houses MEDEF, Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry and UB France. They also had number of Business-to-Business meetings. The visit was jointly organized by Embassy of Pakistan in Paris, Embassy of France in Islamabad and Pakistan Business Council.

While briefing media men at the conclusion of the visit Pakistan's ambassador to France, Ghalib Iqbal said the businessmen from both the countries had, had very useful and constructive interactions.

The Ambassador said that Pakistani businessmen told their French counterparts that the government had been working hard to create conducive and investment friendly environment for foreign investors.

He said that security concerns of foreign investors were being addressed by the Government in a serious manner and that the interaction between the businessmen of both the countries had helped a lot in removing French apprehensions about it. That is why French business houses have agreed to send a delegation to Pakistan soon.

It was told that there were 90 meetings between the businessmen of both the countries during this visit and that the French investors had shown keen interest in investing in Pakistan in many industrial and agriculture sectors especially in energy, textile and agro based industries.

The delegation thanked Ambassador Philippe Thiebaud of France, Ambassador Ghalib Iqbal of Pakistan and Pakistan Business Council for providing them this useful opportunity. France, being the third largest investor, the world over, has been specially targeted by Pakistani businessmen for this kind of interaction.

Bashir Ali Mohammad Vice President Pakistan Business Council and Chairman Gul Ahmad Textile, Zakir Mahmood Chairman Pakistan France Business Council, Jamil Hamdani President Pakistan France Business Alliance and Kamran Mirza CEO Pakistan Business Council participated in the briefing, said the message.
