cotton-RECORDER REPORT

MULTAN: Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) and All Pakistan Oil Mills Association (Apoma) have rejected the SRO-602(1)2012 describing it unjust and inapplicable and repugnant to basic human rights.

He said there were some serious anomalies in the SRO and it was against the basic policy of the government because it would develop the monopoly of a particular sector which was already fleecing the farmers as well as ginners.

PCGA Chairman Amanullah Qureshi and Apoma’s Chairman Khawaja Muhammad Fazail briefed the newsmen after a long joint meeting here on Tuesday.

They said FBR had imposed 16 percent GST on the sale of oil-seed to the buyers other than Ghee mills, adding the step would encourage the corruption, wrong invoices and concealment.

They said that price of oil-seed was Rs 600 per maund lower than international market, and added that after coming the fresh SRO, they had further decreased the prices by Rs 100 per maund. They demanded for declaring the oil-seed as zero-rate commodity.

Earlier the meeting was attended by Shaikh Muhammad Saeed, Khawaja Muhammad Iqbal, Khawaja Muhammad Azam, Sheikh Fazal Elahi, Khawaja Riaz HUssain Siddiqui and Rao Sadaruddin.
