pak trade 400ISLAMABAD: Exports of sports goods from the country stayed positive at 0.47 percent during the fiscal year (2011-12) as against the same period of last year.

The overall exports of sports goods from the country reached to UA$331.542 million during 2011-12 against the exports of US$329.999 million recorded during previous year (2010-11), Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported.

Footballs contributed a major share in ensuring positive growth of sports goods as its exports increased by 8.13 percent by going up from US$143.403 million to US$155.060 million.

However, the exports of gloves decreased from US$123.650 million to US$112.214 million, registering negative growth of 9.25 percent.

Exports of all other sports goods witnessed increase of 2.10 percent by growing from US$62.946 million to US$64.267 million, the data revealed.

Meanwhile, the exports of sports good during the month of June 2012 decreased by 19.57 percent and 7.20 percent when compared to the exports of June 2011 and May 2012 respectively.

The sports good during June 2012 stood at US$29.336 million against the exports of US$36.475 million in June 2011 and US$31.613 million in May 2012, the PBS data revealed.

During June 2012, the exports of footballs decreased by 6.37 percent and 12.94 percent when compared to the exports of June 2011 and May 2012 respectively.

The exports of footballs in June 2012 were recorded at US$14.004 million against the exports of US$14.956 million in June 2011 and US$16.086 in May 2012.

The exports of gloves also decreased from US$14.963 million in June 2011 and US$11.538 million in May 2011 to US$11.199 million in June 2012, showing negative growth of 25.16 percent against June 2011 and 2.94 percent against May 2012.

The exports of other sports good also declined by 36.96 percent in June 2012 against June 2011 however, witnessed positive growth of 3.61 percent when compared to the exports of May 2012.

The exports of other sports goods during June 2012 stood at US$4.133 million against the exports of US$6.556 million in June 2011 and US$3.989 million in May 2011, the PBS data revealed.
