soyabean oil 400ISLAMABAD: The Imports of Soyabean oil decreased by 36.32 percent during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2011-12 against the imports of the same period of last year.

The soyabean imports into the country during July-May (2011-12) were recorded at US$42,206 million against the imports of 66.277 billion during July-May (2010-11), according to the figures of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

In terms of quantity, the imports of the soyabean oil decreased by 50.69 percent by going down from 65,826 metric tons to 32,459 metric tons, the data revealed.

However, on the other hand, the palm oil imports into the country increased by 16.01 percent during the period under review.

The palm oil imports into the country stood at US$2.131 billion in 2011-12 against the imports of 1.837 billion during the same period of last fiscal year.

In terms of quantity, the palm oil imports increased from 1,801,369 metric tons last year to 1,897,695 metric tons during the fiscal year 2010-11, the data revealed.

The overall food imports into the country witnessed negative growth of 1.56 percent during the period under review.

The food imports during July-May (2011-12) stood at US$ 4.639 billion against the imports of US$ 4.731 billion during July-May (2010-11), the PBS data revealed.
