Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, giving his regular video briefing to the people of the country in general and Sindh in particular, said that during the last 24 hours two more patients of the coronavirus died while 50 new cases were detected.

The chief minister said that with the death of two more patients between April 7 and April 8 the death toll of the coronavirus patients in the province reached 20.

The chief minister urged the people to observe social distancing as had been advised by the experts.

He said that only few days were left before the lockdown was relaxed, and the people must observe the remaining days of the lockdown strictly.

Meanwhile, a nine-member delegation of medical experts from China led by Ma Minghui called on the chief minister and briefed him on their experience of not only containing the coronavirus but eliminating it.

They urged the chief minister to ensure that the formula of social distancing was strictly adhered to or the spread of the infection could not be controlled.

They said that they had clamped strict lockdown on their country, and that's how the pandemic was brought under control.

The chief minister told the delegation that he had ordered closure of government offices, schools, business centers, factories and public transport.

"This is how we have contained it, but still we have to take more measures to save our people," he said.

Shah said that due to shortage of testing kits and equipments his government could not conduct tests of all the people.

"We are testing only those who have had travel history and family members of the positive cases," he said.

The visiting delegation assured the chief minister that they would provide expertise and equipments to the provincial government.

They also said that distribution of food rations should also be made in isolation. Gatherings of people in any manner whatsoever would destroy the efforts of containing the virus, they said.

CM attends PM's meeting: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also addressed the prime minister's meeting through a video link.

The chief minister suggested to the meeting that the people coming from overseas through international flights should be kept in quarantines at hotels nearest to the airports.

Although quarantines were the responsibility of the federal government, yet the Sindh government would help the center.
