(Karachi) Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Zafar Mirza said the total number of coronavirus patients in the country has reached 1,022.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mirza said that overall 21 people have recovered from the disease. He pointed out that eight people have so far died of the deadly disease. Zafar Mirza said that condition of five patients is critical.

He maintained that of the total number of patients, 64 percent are males while 26 percent are females.

He said that most of the patients are between the age group of 25 to 40 years.

He highlighted that 148 passengers who came from Doha have tested negative for the disease.

He maintained a mega training program will soon be launched for the health professionals including doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to prepare them better deal with the current situation.

He said the medical staff will also be provided with the equipment and necessary training to ensure their safety.

Dr Zafar Mirza pointed out that overseas Pakistanis are coming forward in large number and offering donations to help the country cope with the Coronavirus.
He said the National Disaster Management Authority which is the lead agency, will receive these donations and further distribute wherever required.

The special assistant advised people to strictly follow the advisories and minimize their outdoor activities to help contain the virus.
