Sindh Minister for Information and Labor Saeed Ghani has said that in accordance with the Police Law it was not mandatory for the provincial government to consult with Governor Sindh before requesting the federal government for the replacement of Inspector General of Police.
The provincial Minister for Information expressed surprise at the decision of the federal cabinet, saying that no approval was sought from the federal cabinet at the time of replacement of Inspector Generals of Police in Punjab and KP. He said this while talking to the journalists after attending as a chief guest the Job Fair & Startup Expo, organised by Iqra University on Wednesday.
Saeed Ghani said that Sindh government would not consult with Governor Sindh on the issue of the replacement of Inspector General Police, Sindh. Provincial Minister for Information said that it was illegal to consult with Governor Sindh regarding the appointment of IG Sindh, because the Governor had nothing to do with this appointment.
He said that the Sindh government had already given five names to the federal government for the appointment of Inspector General of Police, Sindh, adding that, no other name would be added to the list. Saeed Ghani said that the Prime Minister had also been contacted constantly over the issue of replacement of Inspector General of Police, Sindh, and he too had consented for the same as well. The provincial Minister for information said that he felt that the current federal cabinet wanted his own prime minister to face embarrassment over the issue of IGP, Sindh.
He said that when the Prime Minister had shown his consent about an issue, then no federal minister had the right to disagree over it. Saeed Ghani clarified that there was no difference of opinion or deadlock between the Sindh government and the federal government regarding the replacement of IGP Sindh before the federal cabinet meeting held on December 28. The situation changed drastically after this meeting of the federal cabinet, provincial Minister of Information added.
He said that he would once again request that do not make the people of Sindh and elected representatives of the province think that they were second class countrymen. Responding to a question about the court's decision regarding DIG Khadim Hussain Rind and SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed, Saeed Ghani said that the decision of the court had to be respected, whether you like it or not.
The provincial Minister for information said that it was the incumbent IG Syed Kaleem Imam who first requested to transfer the services of four officers, including DIG Khadim Hussain Rind, to the federal government and later raised objections to the same. He said that if the Sindh government deemed it necessary, the honorable court would be approached in this regard.
Meanwhile, Saeed Ghani, while attending as chief guest at the Job Fair & Startup Expo of Iqra University, said that such events were quite useful as it facilitated the students to acquire a good job after the completion of their education. The provincial Minister for Information and Labor hoped that with an aim to facilitate and assist their students other universities across the province would also arrange for such events regularly.
