The steady trend was seen on the money market on Monday as the rupee did not move sharply against the dollar in the process of trading activity, dealers said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: The rupee shed one paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 154.56 and Rs 154.58 respectively, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was unchanged in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 154.60 and Rs 154.90 respectively, they said. The rupee did not move any side in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 170.00 and Rs 171.50 respectively, they said.
In the first Asian trade, the yen rose and the yuan fell in offshore trade on Monday as the death toll in China from the spread of a pneumonia-like virus mounted, raising worries authorities are struggling to contain the outbreak and sparking a bout of risk aversion.
In the offshore market, the yuan fell almost 0.5% to 6.9625 per dollar, its weakest since Jan 8. The dollar index against a basket of six major currencies was little changed at 97.830.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth on buying side while it stayed unchanged on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Monday.
According to currency dealers, the greenback lost 25 paisas and ended lower for buying at Rs 154.25 against the previous closing rate of Rs 154.50 whereas it firmly sustained its opening rate for selling at Rs 154.75.
Moreover, the rupee-pound sterling parity stayed firmed amid sluggish trading activity in the market. Consequently, the pound was bought and sold at Rs 201.40 and Rs 202.40 respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The dollar opened at Rs 155.35 (buying) and Rs 155.45 (selling) against same last week's rate.
It closed at Rs 155.35 (buying) and Rs 155.45 (selling). The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs 91,800 (selling) and Rs 91,600 (buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
