The Karachi Port handled 69,418 tonnes of cargo comprising 61,665 tonnes of import cargo and 7,753 tonnes of export cargo including 3,761 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 61,665 tonnes comprised of 37,991 tonnes of containerised cargo; 842 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,535 tonnes of fertilizer and 18,297 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 7,753 tonnes comprised of 7,645 tonnes of containerised cargo; 108 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,761 containers comprising of 2,739 containers of import and 1,022 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 675 of 20's and 934 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 98 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 250 of 20's and 106 of 40's loaded containers while 260 of 20's and 150 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Coral Star, MT Lahore and Da Zhi carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Smiley Lady, GSL Eleni, Express Athens and Nordic Tristan carrying containers and tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 135,480 tonnes comprising 99,418 tonnes of import cargo and 36,062 tonnes of export cargo including 4,141 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 99,418 tonnes includes 27,092 tonnes of LNG; 500 tonnes of coal; 12,709 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,000 tonnes of palm oil; 3,500 tonnes of chemical; 9,500 tonnes of soyabean and 42,617 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,062 tonnes includes 36,062 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,141 containers comprising of 2,243 containers import and 1,898 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were three ships namely CSAV Tyndall, Al Jassiyah and Ginga Cougheor carrying containers, LNG and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Atlantic and X-Press Bardsey carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, soysbean, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as six vessels viz. Prugue Express, Asia Ruby-II, Pacific Victory, Captain Pegglizos, Pedhoulas Cherry and NH Siri carrying containers, coal, soyabean, canola and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Maersk Brooklyn, Prague Express, Smiley Lady, Asia Ruby-II, Pacific Victory and Gulf Mist carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were three ships namely Maersk Brooklyn, Smiley Lady and Gulf Mist carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely GSL Eleni carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
