RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Power shortfall has crossed 4,000MW with rise in temperature amidst short supply of fuel to thermal and water to hydel generation.

Power generation remained stagnant but the demand kept on rising that hit the supply side hard. Hydel generation stood at 2,655MW, followed by thermal at 1,605MW and IPPs at 6,292MW. The KESC received 700MW out of the system.

The consumers are irritated over the situation cursing the power authorities for heavy load shedding and unbearable utility bills. Meanwhile, a delegation of textile industry called on the head of Energy Management Committee Tahir Basharat Cheema the other day.  Sources said Cheema had sought more time to resolve the power supply relating issues of the industry. The textile industry delegation apprised Cheema about the issues relating to power supply and urged him to ensure uninterrupted power supply as ensured by the President Zardari.
