The nine-party opposition alliance has decided to launch a countrywide anti-government drive from Friday (today).

This was announced by Convener Rehbar Committee Akram Durrani here on Thursday, saying that all the segments of society want to get rid of the present setup which has "added miseries to the common people's routine life". He said that opposition parties have decided to hold protest demonstrations in all the cities and towns of the country after Friday prayer.

Durrani who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), said that Prime Minister Imran Khan must resign on moral grounds as he has badly failed in fulfilling the promises made with the masses.

He said since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came to power, not only labor class but professionals like doctors, lawyers, paramedics, industrialist, journalists and farmers are protesting over ever-increasing inflation, besides people's deprivation of basic necessities such as education and health.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader said all the institutions are disappointed with the PTI-led government, and affirmed that people will soon hear "good news". He said it is the responsibility of the state to provide best treatment to ailing citizens regardless their status including those in jails. He added that providing best healthcare facilities to people of Pakistan without any discrimination was one of the major promises of PTI with the people of Pakistan before the election, but after taking over the country, like other promises PM Khan also ignored the provision of health facilities.

He said that the PTI can no longer hide behind the courts in the foreign funding case, and Khan's 'party will end' after the verdict by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The JUI-F leader claimed that Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif will soon return to Pakistan.
