Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Member of Sindh Assembly Bilal Ghafar on Wednesday submitted a resolution in provincial assembly on failure of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB).

Bilal Ghafar said SSWMB still carries lifting of garbage operation from three districts in Karachi but its performance is not good even in three districts.

He informed that in BOQs (Bill of Quantities) SSWMB stated that it will lift 3,222,360 tonnes garbage, which is 883 tonnes a day from DMC East but the reality is quite different 883 tonnes is a wrong figure as only in District East 1200 to 1400 tonnes of garbage is generated daily.

PTI legislator shared, if there are problems in BOQ's, how will the problems of city resolve. He questioned, what measures Sindh government is taking for lifting garbage from other districts of city?

After 12 years of long period Sindh government decided to lift garbage from Karachi for which they had given 50 million rupees to every district in Karachi but they had failed to perform their task.

Sindh Solid Waste has failed to perform its functions, board has already been formed for lifting garbage so why the provincial government spent 300 million rupees of additional amount for the performance of same task, he added. He asked the legislators of PPP to visit his constituency to see the unpleasant situation. He asked for the feasibility report. Whereas, he said, there is no GTS in the Gulshan Zone of the District East, Sindh government makes temporary GTS point for cleanliness campaign but the permanent GTS point is not there.

We do not want trash politics but whoever has this job, he should have to work, he said. The Sindh government has failed to function in past 12 years, he lamented.

He said we unanimously call the House to pass this resolution and added in the city of Karachi, practical measures should be taken instead of politics.-PR
