  • Court has ordered her to submit two surety bonds worth Rs10 million.
  • Maryam sought immediate bail in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case after Nawaz Sharif's health deteriorated.
  • She was arrested in the case on August 8.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) accepted on Monday the bail petition of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem announced its verdict today. The legal representatives of Maryam and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) were also present in court. Announcing its verdict, the bench has directed the PML-N leader to submit two surety bonds worth Rs10 million to secure her release.

LHC has also directed the PML-N leader to surrender her passport and deposit an additional Rs70 million.

After Nawaz Sharif's health deteriorated and he was granted bail on medical grounds, the PML-N leader had sought for immediate bail on the basis of fundamental rights and humanitarian reasons. The Islamabad High Court had suspended Nawaz's sentence on October 29 in the Al-Azizia case for eight weeks.
