Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir sparkles yet again at Vitality Blast

Pakistan’s pace spearhead Mohamamd Amir’s fantastic form with the ball continued after he grabbed a four wicket haul, allowing his side Essex beat down Sussex at the ongoing Vitality Blast 2019.

Amir ended up with figures of four wickets for 29 runs including 12 dot balls in his spell of four overs, restricting Sussex to 159 runs at the loss of nine wickets and helping Essex claimed the game by nine runs.

Mohammad Amir has been a pivotal player for Essex, just days ago the speedster playing his final first-class game finished with figures of 6-64 in a winning cause for Essex against Kent in Canterbury.

The performance reminiscent of his golden days has left many including former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar calling for Amir to reverse his decision of retirement from Test cricket.

“There must be a system where players who have been invested in cannot consider retirement for the first five or six years of their career. The concern is genuine. Amir should reconsider his retirement decision and must play Tests for Pakistan again,” said Akhtar.

Last month, Amir announced his Test retirement at the age of 27 and this came after he was the top wicket-taker for the Men in Green in the recently-concluded ICC World Cup 2019.
