Google to roll out Android version of Apple’s iMessage

In an attempt to make messaging experience better for its users, Google is introducing its own Andoird version of Apple’s iMessage.

Later this month, Google will roll out a new text messaging service called ‘Chat’ to Android phones, which will be much similar to iMessage already found in devices running on iOS.

CNN explained, just like iMessage, Chat will provide read receipts show symbols to tell when the other person is typing. Making it easier to text on Android, the messaging service will also let people send texts through Wi-Fi to save their cellular data.

Moreover, Chat will also enable users to send higher resolution images and videos. Also, like iMessage, users will have the choice to opt into the service or disable it when they don’t need it.

“While we’re pleased with this progress, our goal is to seamlessly bring a modern messaging experience to every Android user around the world, regardless of their device or carrier,” Google’s product management director Sanaz Ahari told CNN Business.

The Chat messaging service will roll out later this month in the UK and France, and is expected to roll out globally for all Android users soon.
