NAB wants apex court to overturn LHC's order to remove Shehbaz from ECL

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed on Friday an appeal in the Supreme Court to put Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif’s name back on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The bureau in its petition stated that the Lahore High Court (LHC)’s decision in removing the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's  (PML-N) name off the ECL had not stated which rights were being infringed upon.

The petition also stated that co-accused Shehbaz's son Salman Shehbaz had already fled the country, local media reported. NAB prayed that the SC overturn the LHC's decision to remove Shehbaz's name from the list.

On March 26, the high court ordered to remove Shehbaz's name from the no-fly-list. His name had been added in the ECL in February in the Ashiana Housing scam case. The PML-N president's name was placed on the ECL after NAB’s recommendation.

The opposition leader is currently on bail granted to him by the LHC. He was in NAB’s custody since October 5 last year.
