The Sindh Assembly sitting on Friday was postponed without holding any business following a sudden demise of its member - Syed Ghulam Ali Shah Jilani. As per the tradition of provincial legislature, the house holds no business on the death of its members as a respect. Jilani, who was the ruling PPP lawmaker, died at a city's hospital on Friday. Though, Speaker Aga Siraj Khan Durrani began the proceedings about one and half hour late from its scheduled time adjourned the house on the news of Jilani's death.
The assembly's last session was prorogued on Sep 2 and called the fresh one for Sep 13, saw an immediate adjournment till Monday afternoon at 2pm. House offered prayers for the late lawmaker before meeting again the next week. Jilani was elected to the Sindh Assembly from PS86 Dadu - IV. He served the assembly as a member of standing committees on food, higher technical education and research, school and special educations, planning and development and special initiatives. It was his fourth term as a lawmaker representing the PPP at the legislature.
