Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures rose for a second session on Tuesday on short-covering ahead of a US government crop report due later this week and on spillover support from higher corn futures, traders said. CBOT December soft red winter wheat settled up 7-3/4 cents at $4.82-1/4 a bushel.
K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended up 5-3/4 cents at $4.03-3/4 a bushel and MGEX December spring wheat rose 7 cents to $5.03-3/4. Traders were squaring positions ahead of a US Department of Agriculture (USDA) monthly crop report on Thursday. Wheat futures remain underpinned by concerns about dryness in key Southern Hemisphere wheat producers Australia and Argentina.
