Terming the Kartarpur Corridor Project as historic initiative, Interior Minister Brigadier Ijaz Ahmed Shah(r) Wednesday said the country's political and military leadership has decided to complete this project. "We will provide all out facilities to the Sikh Yatrees who would come to participate in the 550th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanank Dev Jee and opening ceremony of Karatpur Corridor Project," the minister said that necessary arrangements are being made to complete the project.
Talking to a selected group of media personnel here at Governor's House, Ijaz Shah ruled out any possibility of revengeful activities in the country against any party including the PML-N saying that the cases against the PML-N leaders are in courts. "If anybody wants to be released, there is option of plea bargaining with the NAB," he said.
Answering a question, the interior minister said that holding peaceful protest is right of everyone, if Maulana Fazl ur Rehman tried to take the law into his hands, law will take its due course and protection of life and property of citizens will be ensured.
Ijaz Shah said corruption caused great harm to the country and they would fulfill their promise of eradicating the menace of corruption from the country.
Talking about the Indian atrocities on Kashmiris, the interior minister said, "Today even the people in India are staging protest against atrocities in Kashmir and Indian PM Modi."
He said, "Today every country in the world is aware of Indian brutalities on Kashmiris which is big diplomatic achievement of Pakistan."
About Indian threats, Ijaz Shah said the country's political and military leadership are ready to give strong reply in case of Indian aggression. He added that India has realized that it would not be able to bring Kashmir situation under control and that was why curfew has not been lifted despite passage of three weeks.
Later, the interior minister attended a meeting of religious, tourism and heritage committee which was chaired by Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar.
Addressing the meeting, Ijaz Shah said that through Kartarpur project, we have won hearts of Sikhs residing all over the world. "Promotion of religious tourism is govt's priority and we will try our best that such arrangements are made at religious places which will facilitate pilgrims."
In the meeting, it was decided to finalize the process of issuance of visas for Sikh Pilgrims from India and around the world for the 550th birthday celebration of Baba Guru Nanak Dev in Nankana Sahib before 30th September. It was also decided to start special shuttle service from railway station to "Janam Ashtan" for the event of 550th birthday celebration of Baba Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib.
After the meeting, Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar told media that visa process for Sikh Pilgrims who want to attend the 550th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak will start from 1st of September and will be completed by 30th September. In order to provide Sikh pilgrims with accommodations, foolproof security, and other facilities a "Tent City" in Nankana Sahib is being established. Regarding International Sikh convention, the Governor said a large number of Sikh pilgrims will be arriving from UK, USA, and other countries to attend the convention at Governor House on August 31. The Governor said that regardless of India's willingness to work on Kartarpur Corridor, Pakistan will complete and formally inaugurate the project by November.
