An accountability court will indict former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and other accused on August 6 in a case of awarding government advertisement contracts illegally. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed corruption reference against ex-PM Gilani, ex-secretary IT Farooq Awan, former press information officer Muhammad Saleem, ex-secretary Universal Service Fund S Hasan Sheikh and other individuals.
According to NAB, they allegedly misused their positions to illegally grant advertising contract in contravention of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules, causing a loss of Rs 129.07 million.
The indictment was delayed last month when court granted him exemption for which Gilani had filed a plea through his lawyer.
However, the court adjourned the hearing till August 6 for the indictment.
The Supreme Court in its order had asked the accountability court to conduct hearings of the case on a daily basis in order to decide it within the stipulated time.
