Former President and Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is blackmailing the chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He expressed these views while speaking to the parliamentary reporters along with his son and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in latter's chamber at the Parliament House on Thursday.
Answering a question on the appointment of Deputy Chairman NAB Hussain Asghar as head of 'Inquiry Commission' to investigate borrowing of previous governments of PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during the last 10 years, Zardari said, "We have reservations over everyone from top to the bottom."
Answering another question, he said, "The political forces will have to unite and come forward to topple the incumbent government. If the political forces do not take this action then other forces will come forward," he warned.
He called for end to arrests in order to 'move forward'. He said that all the political parties are in contact with the PPP. He said that the PTI government should go home but "we should think who would come in power after it."
Answering a question, Zardari said, "Those who are in jails are not tired but those who are out of jails are tired."
Commenting on delay in issuance of his production order, he said that "the Speaker of National Assembly seems to be weak" "We have a fair idea that the speaker does not enjoy absolute power because of which we had to compel him for issuance of production order," he said.
The PPP co-chairman said, "We will try our level best to stop passage of the budget 2019-20 from the National Assembly." While talking to the media persons, Bilawal said that the budget 2019-20 would have no legitimacy until the House is complete.
"Every member deserves a chance to represent the public and the House must be complete for passing the budget. The failure to do so is equivalent to rigging," he added. On questions raised by the media persons regarding his absence from the upcoming All Parties Conference (APC), Zardari said that the PPP will stick to its narrative during the conference.
To a question, Bilawal said that opposition is united in securing production orders for members of the National Assembly (MNAs). He said that in separate letters, the opposition requested Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser to issue production orders for MNAs Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar. The father-son duo also agreed that the ruling party must leave the office.
On June 10, Zardari was arrested by the NAB hours after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the pre-arrest bail granted to him and his sister Faryal Talpur in connection with the fake accounts case.
