At least 12 people died while five others sustained injuries when a van rammed into Islamabad Toll Plaza. According to details, a passenger van coming from Sargodha to Islamabad, carrying 17 passengers, hit toll plaza due to over speeding. The van immediately caught fire and passengers were evacuated after cutting the van.
The Motorway Police said that nine people died on the spot while eight others who got injured were rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Three people succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The Motorway Police further said that it seems that the driver of the van, with registration number LES-7070, slept whilst driving. The PIMS administration said the condition of five injured persons is also critical while the process for identification of the deceased is afoot.
