Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday restrained private schools from receiving the fees of summer vacations in advance and ruled to initiate contempt of court proceedings, if the court's orders are not implemented.
A larger bench of the SHC headed by Justice Aqeel Abbasi stated that why the advance fee is being charged when the Supreme Court had ordered the private schools to refund the advance fee last year.
The court issued these orders in contempt of court petitions submitted by parents against some schools for violating the court orders on summer vacations fee.
The counsel for a private school complained that some parents didn't pay the schools fee since August 2018 even after issuance of new challans under a court order in September last year.
The counsel told the court that even twenty percent cut was made in the school fee after the apex court
ordered to do so and accused some parents for resorting to propaganda on the social media.
The bench ordered all those parents, who have not paid fee to pay the due fee of the private schools. The court would get the parents refund the amount, if there was any difference in the challan amount and what the court ordered in school fee case.
The bench remarked that the court would not want any schools to close down after the counsel for private schools said that private schools implemented the orders of apex court and SHC on school fee.
The court also showed annoyance over a private school after some parents complained that documents are not being provided to the students for appearing in A-level examination. The court fixed the hearing of the case for April 22, 2019.
