Terming the murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud others as extrajudicial killings, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) dismissed five cases against them.

During the hearing today, a report was submitted by the inquiry committee to the ATC. In its report, the committee said that it had visited and examined the poultry farm, where the 'alleged' encounter took place and found no marks of fired bullets and hand grenades, local media reported.

The committee said that all allegations against Mehsud and others were baseless and false. The report added that Mehsud and the three others killed, were killed in a room. The weapons were placed in the room after the murder to create an alleged encounter.

The report further adds that former Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Rao Anwar and his team members were also present at the site. Approving the committee's report, the ATC dismissed the five cases against Mehsud and others.

Last year in January 13, Mehsud, a 27-year-old native of Waziristan, was killed along with three other suspected terrorists in an alleged encounter with a police team headed by Anwar. However, Mehsud's family had claimed that the deceased was innocent and was killed in a ‘fake’ encounter.

Anwar and his team had alleged that the victims were terrorists. After a Joint Investigation Team held Anwar responsible, the former SSP denied his involvement.
