Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi said that they will request the Punjab government to allocate Rs 22 billion in the upcoming budget for provision of education to 2.6 million children studying in the partner schools of the foundation. While talking to Business Recorder recently, Wasiq said they faced some problems regarding allocation of funds in the last year's budget but he hoped that in the coming budget economic position will improve and payment to partner schools will be released on time. He also said that they had not imposed any ban on admissions, adding that they had accepted all the demands of partner schools.
Minister Schools Education Dr Murad Raas had promised that the PEF will be given required budget and programs of PEF will be expanded. He said new programs will be launched with the support of World Bank and DFID.
While answering a question, the Chairman PEF said they are trying to provide skill education to girls and boys. In this regard, the foundation is formulating a new policy. He called for introducing strict check and balance in the examination system. He said they will improve quality assurance test as well. While responding to a question, Wasiq said it is his mission that level of education of the enrolled students should be enhanced.
