Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ordered to issue notices to petitioners and respondents in response to an appeal pertaining to high court's order to regularize the services of 47 contractual employees in Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
At Karachi Registry, a division bench of SC comprising Justice Maqbool Baqir and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah issued these orders in relation to an appeal filed by SSGC against the decision of Sindh High Court (SHC), which gave verdict in favour of contractual employees for regularization of their services.
SSGC lawyer contended that the said employees were not contractual employees of SSGC directly but they were on the payroll of a subsidiary of SSGC.
Court directed both parties to submit their replies in the next hearing of the case.
Meanwhile, SC bench approved the bail before arrest of Abdul Razzaq Dal in a case pertaining to a Rs 5 million cheque.
The cheque of Rs 5 million bearing the signature of accused bounced in a business deal and an FIR was lodged in Hyderabad by Danial Siddiqui against him.
SC ordered the accused to submit Rs 1 million as surety amount as well as property equivalent to the tune of Rs 4 million for securing bail.
During the course of hearing, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah said that the phenomenon of bounced cheques has ruined the business sector that also creates a bad impression abroad about the business transactions carried out in the country.
