Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Wednesday visited the Sindh Assembly to show solidarity with the Speaker, who is facing probe by the NAB on charges of income beyond means. Speaking at a press conference at the assembly building, he slammed the NAB for arresting his party's stalwart - Agha Siraj Durrani, terming the accountability 'revenge'. He said that the NAB working is rather a 'political engineering'. He vowed to unveil the plot that his party is being subjected to. He also called the arrest of Agha Siraj by the NAB as 'attack' on the Sindh Assembly.
He said that the judicial system should work independently to ensure justice indiscriminately for the nation. He said that a 'free trial' is his party's right under Article 10 of the Constitution, saying that the case on Sindh Bank has been transferred to Rawalpindi though the state-run financial institution is located in Karachi. "What attraction Rawalpindi has?" he questioned.
He also demanded of the federal government to sack three of its federal ministers for 'having connections with the outlawed organizations'. However, he shunned naming the ministers and detailing the outlawed outfits. He also asserted to defend the 18th Amendment from abrogation, saying he will go to public to put his party's case to them and attain support in this connection, besides preparing himself for going to jail.
He said NICVD is the world's best heart disease hospital and his party's government will leave no stone unturned to retrieve it from the federal government. He added that "we are going to court and to the public." He said that the hospital belongs to Sindh. "Why has a JIT not been formed to probe the assets of banned outfits... this question is difficult to answer "yet we need the answer."
Earlier, Bilawal held a meeting with Agha Siraj in his chamber to show solidarity with him. An exceptionally tight security shield was laid around the Sindh Assembly building on the visit of Chairman PPP. Bilawal was warmly welcomed as he stepped out of his vehicle at the assembly building.
