Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a reduction during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that prices of most of the vegetables, fruits and chicken witnessed a reduction. The survey observed no change in prices of non-perishable items including ghee/cooking oil, pulses, rice, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Egg price remained stable at Rs 105 per dozen in the wholesale market which in retail market were being sold at Rs 115 per dozen, live chicken price came down from Rs 4,800 per 40kg to Rs 4,700 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 145 per kg against Rs 150-160 per kg and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 250 per kg.
Onions price went down from Rs 140 per 5kg to Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 35 per kg, tomatoes price came down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 85 per kg against Rs 90-95 per kg, while potatoes prices decreased from Rs 80 per 5kg to Rs 70 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 20 per kg.
Local garlic prices came down from Rs 300-400 per 5kg to Rs 250-300 per 5kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 65-80 per kg against Rs 70-95 per kg, while Chinese garlic price came further down from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 140 per kg and local ginger price came further down from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 600 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 175 per kg.
Capsicum price went down from Rs 425 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 95-100 per kg against Rs 110 per kg; yam (arvi) price remained stable at Rs 230 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg; carrot price went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, radish price went down from Rs 120 per 8kg pack to Rs 100 per 8kg pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 25 per kg, and peas price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 45 per kg.
Cucumber price went further down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45-50 per kg against Rs 50-55 per kg, cauliflower price went further down from Rs 160 per 5kg to Rs 130 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, while cabbage price remained stable at Rs 80 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20 per kg.
Okra price went down from Rs 550 per 5kg to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 135 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, brinjal price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5 kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 40 per kg, and ridge gourd (tori) price went down from Rs 425 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 90-95 per kg against Rs 110 per kg.
Pumpkin price went slightly down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 330 per 5kg and it was being sold at Rs 75-80 per kg against Rs 85 per 5 kg, tinda price went further down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40-45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg, beans price went down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 280 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65-70 per kg against Rs 75 per kg, and bitter gourd (Kareela) price remained stable at Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 125 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses also witnessed no change as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 170 per kg while normal quality at Rs 135 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 170 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 130 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) at Rs 130 per kg. Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs 785 per 20kg bag.
Ghee/cooking oil prices also witnessed no change as normal quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 150 per kg/litre pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 1,030 per 5 kg/litre tin. The prices of sugar, formula milk Nido/Everyday and packed spices also remained stable.
Overall fruit prices witnessed a declining trend as Pakistan Kaka Kolo apple was available at Rs 140 per kg, Iranian Kaka Kolo apple at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 165 per kg, white apple was available at Rs 80 per kg, Ambri apple at Rs 75 per kg and golden apple at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 125 per kg, while fresh arrival strawberry was available at Rs 300 per kg.
Good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 90 per dozen, normal quality banana in the range of Rs 60-70 per dozen, while Indian banana was being sold at Rs 160 per dozen. Guava prices went down as good quality guava was available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg and normal quality guava was being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg against Rs 60-70 per kg.
Best quality kinnow was being sold at Rs 160 per dozen against Rs 180 per dozen, Khanpuri Shakri Malta at Rs 140 per dozen, normal quality kinnow in the range of Rs 50-80 per dozen against Rs 70-100 per dozen, pomegranate at Rs 175 per kg against Rs 190 per kg, sapodilla (chikoo) was being sold at Rs 125 per kg and papaya was available at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 125 per kg.
