NEW YORK: The dollar rose to a session peak against the yen and recovered lost ground against the euro on Thursday after the European Central Bank's Mario Draghi said Europe's economic outlook was uncertain.

The euro which had climbed on news that Greece had clinched a deal for a new aid package, gave up those gains after Draghi spoke. It was last at $1.3255, unchanged on the day. Earlier, it hit a two-month high above $1.33. The ECB earlier left interst rates steady at 1 percent.

"Initial comments sound like (Draghi) is setting the groundwork for additional monetary policy easing," said Omer Esiner, chief market analyst at Commonwealth Foreign Exchange in Washington.

The dollar rose to 77.34 yen, a session peak, helped by an unexpected fall in US jobless claims last week.
