A village councillor of the local bodies' government was gunned down along with his son after exchanging harsh arguments with opponents in Swabi on Thursday. According to reports, Muntazir, a village councillor, and his son Ijaz exchanged harsh arguments with opponents following women brawl in Yarhussain area of Swabi. The rival Tariq then opened indiscriminate firing on them, killing both Muntazir and his son the spot.
The accused successfully fled from the crime scene. The police taken the dead bodies of the slain councillor and his son to police station for legal-medico formalities and registered an FIR against the accused. In his statement to police, Shakil, another son of deceased Muntazir, told police that Tariq accompanied by his friends opened fire on his father and brother.
