The government has continued to consult with different political parties over Panama Leaks issue. Federal Ministers for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid and Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq Tuesday called on Ameer Jamaat e Islami Sirajul Haq in Islamabad and discussed with him the political matters with special reference to the Panama leaks issue and the executions of JI leaders in Bangladesh.
Talking to news men after the meeting, the JI chief said that he had discussed with the ministers the Panama leaks issue and the inhuman treatment being meted out to the JI leaders in Bangladesh. Sirajul Haq said the Panama leak was a national as also an international issue. He said the JI had always been against corruption. He said that from the very beginning, the JI had been demanding that an impartial commission should hold enquiry into the matter so that the nation could know the facts.
Siraj also said that despite running a movement for corruption free Pakistan JI has adopted non-emotional stance over Panama Leaks and demanded formation of a commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan. He said that Khwaja Saad Rafiq had told that the government had finalised the Terms of Reference for the commission. He said that the JI would study the ToRs and offer its point of view on these.
Talking to the media, Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that final decision will be taken after transparent investigation over Panama Leaks and commission's TROs will be discussed with all the political parties. The nation has a right to know the facts, but should refrain from speculations, he added. He also hoped that the government will show the same interest over Panama Leaks investigation as it did in the case of 21st amendment.
JI Ameer also said that the party has played a vital role with regard to national ideology in Bangladesh. Government ministers have assured that the issue will be critically reviewed. He said that the JI leaders Mutiur Rehman Nizami, Professor, Ghulam Azam and Abdul Qadir Mullah had offered huge sacrifices for the cause of Pakistan but they had been at the mercy of the so called war crimes tribunal. He said that the issue should be taken up on official level as this was the duty of the Pakistan government. JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch and JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam, were also present on the occasion.
