Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has warned that contractors found involved in substandard construction of roads and government buildings would be bound to reconstruct the projects according to the laid down specification while investigation will also be carried out against such violators.
This he said while presiding over a midyear review meeting of ADP 2015-16 at civil secretariat Peshawar this morning. Senior Provincial Minister Shahram Tarakai, Minister for Finance Muzafar Said Advocate, Special Assistant to CM for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary and administrative secretaries of various departments attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed implementation status and pace of work carried out by 19 departments of the province. The meeting besides discussing progress of various developmental schemes also deliberated over impediments making implementation process as slow and a number of directives were issued to expedite work on the uplift schemes. The Chief Minister said that contractor found guilty of substandard work on the uplift project wouldn't be allowed for partial rectification rather they would be liable for 100% damages and would also face investigation.
He directed the implementers to provide list of the projects which were delayed due to non identification of sites to the provincial cabinet to drop it from the ADP. Similarly, the Chief Minister asked heads of various departments to include funds for publicity for the projects in the next budget.
The Chief Minister also ordered construction of official buildings in the Regi Lalma Township instead of Hayatabad Peshawar. He also directed planners to demarcate sufficient portion of the official residential projects for commercial activities to make it income generating. Moreover, the CM asked PDA authorities to adopt public private financing mode for initiation of projects in future. Directing for speeding up pace of work on developmental projects in efficient utilisation of allocated funds, he pinpointed that selection of sites and removal of obstacle for smooth implementation of schemes was responsibility of the concerned executing agency. He also directed for provision of details of funds allocated for schools to be utilised under parents-teachers councils to the respective village Nazim and district council member. The meeting was informed that excise and taxation department would achieve the target of the recovery of Rs 14 billion taxes till the end of this financial year.
