State-of-the-art: Bio-Safety Laboratory opens

An state-of-the-art Bio-Safety Laboratory (BSL) Level-III was inaugurated in the premises of Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar. Senior Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai formally inaugurated the newly-established laboratory by unveiling a plaque here on Monday. The laboratory has been established with the financial assistance of German Government and technical support of TB Control Programme.
The Lab which is equipped with modern and sophisticated equipment is the most advanced diagnostic facility for TB in the province wherein wide range of tests including Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST), Culture and Genexpert will be performed free of cost. It is the first ever public sector Lab of its kind not only in the province but the whole country as well.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony as chief guest Tarakai termed the establishment of the Lab a landmark achievement in health sector and said that this state-of-the-art laboratory would achieve lasting results that will benefit current and future generations of not only the province but the adjacent tribal areas as well.
