Price of essential kitchen items did not witness any significant change in the past week compared to preceding week, found a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey observed that the prices of main vegetables including onions, potatoes and tomatoes remained unchanged in the wholesale as well as in the retail market.
In the wholesale market, onions are available at Rs 3,200 per quintal which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 45 per kg, potatoes are available at Rs 1,500 per quintal in the wholesale market which in retail market are being sold at Rs 20 per kg, while tomatoes in the wholesale market are available at Rs 1,200 per 40kg which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 40 per kg.
According to survey, prices of all range of pulses remained stable as Mash pulse is being sold at Rs 250 per kg, masoor at Rs 140 per kg, mong at Rs 160 per kg, gram in the range of Rs 120 to Rs 140 per kg, white lobia at Rs 120 per kg, while red and black lobia is available in the range of Rs 120-130 per kg. Good quality ghee/cooking oil brands like Dalda, Habib, Tulo are being sold at Rs 840 per 5kg pack, while normal quality ghee/cooking oil including Phool, Fuji and others are being sold at Rs 600 per 5 kg pack. In the wholesale market, sugar is being sold at Rs 2,800 per 50 kg bag but in the retail market, it is still being sold at old price of Rs 62-65 per kg. No change was witnessed in the prices of tea as branded tea is being sold at Rs 670 per kg while non-branded tea is available at Rs 580 per kg.
The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) available with a reduction of Rs 15 per kg following decline in its price in the International Market and is being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 105 per kg. According to survey, no change is observed in the prices of chicken as live chicken in the whole sales market is being sold at Rs 4,200 per 40 kg, which in the retail market it is available at Rs 130-140 per kg. The survey observed that different quality rice are available in the range of Rs 40 per kg to Rs 130 per kg.
In the retail market, the prices of all range of vegetables remained stable as onion is being sold being sold at Rs 40 per kg, tomatoes at Rs 40 per kg and potatoes at Rs 20 per kg. Ginger with a reduction of Rs 40 per kg is available at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 160 per kg, while garlic is available at Rs 240 per kg. Tinda with a reduction of Rs 20 per kg is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, kadu at Rs 50 per kg, tori at Rs 65 per kg and arvi is available at Rs 70 per kg. Peas in the retail market are being sold at Rs 60 per kg and spinach with an increase of Rs 5 per kg is being sold at Rs 25 per kg. No change was witnessed in green chili price which is being sold at Rs 80 per kg, lemon at Rs 80 per kg, mathi at Rs 20 per kg, radish at Rs 30 per kg, turnip at Rs 30 per kg, carrot at Rs 30 per kg and cucumber with a reduction of Rs 20 per kg is being sold in the range of Rs 40 per kg.
Okra and Kareela remained most expensive vegetables as in the wholesale market, Okra is available at Rs 550 per 5 kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 130 per kg, while Kareela in the wholesale market is being sold at Rs 750 per 5 kg, which in retail market is available at Rs 180 per kg. Cabbage and cauliflower are being sold at Rs 100 per 5 kg in the wholesale market, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 25 per kg. Capsicum price further went up by Rs 100 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 300 per kg to Rs 400 per kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 80 per kg.
There is no change in the price of beef and mutton as boneless beef is being sold at Rs 450 per kg and mixed beef at Rs 380 per kg, mutton at Rs 700 per kg. Fruit prices also remained stable during the week under review as good quality local banana is available at Rs 80 per dozen, while normal quality banana is being sold in the range of Rs 40-60 per dozen and Indian banana is being sold in the range of Rs 140-180 per dozen. Good quality apples are being sold at Rs 150 per kg, while normal quality is available in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 100 per kg, good quality kinows are available in the range of Rs 100-150 per dozen, while normal quality is available in the range of Rs 40 to Rs 80 per dozen. Good quality guava is being sold at Rs 80 per kg, while normal quality is being sold at Rs 50-70 per kg.
