Grievance Commissioner for overseas Pakistanis Federal Ombudsman Secretariat, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar on Sunday said that for the facilitation of overseas Pakistanis, focal persons in 92 foreign missions and 40 in federal departments have been appointed.
Talking to APP, he said this action has been taken on 932 complaints of overseas Pakistanis against government departments since June 2015. He said that in future complaints of overseas Pakistanis will be disposed of within 15 days by the government departments which will give benefit to the millions of Overseas Pakistanis living in and outside Pakistan.
Hafiz Ahsan Ahmed Khokhar said that several steps have been taken for overseas Pakistanis which includes; Establishment Of Independent Website For Overseas Pakistanis, Focal Persons In Pakistan Missions and Agencies, Advisory Councils In Agencies, Online System Of Handling Of Complaints, Facilitation of Overseas Pakistanis In Companies & Tax Registration, Improvement Of Provision Of Facilities At Airports, Fixation of Day For Hearing Of Complaints In 92 Pakistan Mission For Overseas Pakistanis, Facilitation In Attestation of Documents, Resolution Of Residence Permit.
For Overseas Pakistanis, Counselling of Overseas Pakistanis Prisoners, E-gate Immigration Facility at International Airports of Pakistan, Steps for Facilitation Of remittances Of Overseas Pakistanis, MRP Facility at abroad. He said that five one window facilitation desks has been established at Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta airports are working for the betterment of Overseas Pakistanis. These Facilitation Desks are operational round the clock (24/7) and all concerned Agencies are ensuring their officials presence there.
Khokhar informed that Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) are acting as Complaint Handling/Co-ordination Agencies and are submitting regularly weekly reports to the heads of Agencies and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis for monitoring purpose. He said steps have been taken for handling the overseas complaints through integration of the websites of 40 federal agencies which will make sure that the complaints of overseas Pakistanis will be decided in 15 days at their level. Khokhar said that so far 203,000 complaints have been decided by Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan within two and half years and no complaint are pending beyond the 60 days in Federal Ombudsman Secretariat. He further stated that several initiatives have been taken in public interest by the present Federal Ombudsman which include: Pension reforms, Standardisation of police station, Jail Reforms, Report on the cognisance of tragic incident of death of 57 persons in Bus-Truck Accident near Khairpur-Sindh, Report of the investigation committee for investigation and suggesting Reforms in the pension system of Pakistan Railways, Report on measles outbreak in Pakistan (Vol-I), Interim Report on the working of civic agencies, Report on Pakistan Railways in regard to mal-administration in settlement of pension claims and allotment of accommodation to its Employees and suggested measures for improvement, Report on Public Complaints of Mal-Administration and Deficiencies in Pakistan Post Office Department and Suggested Remedial Measures, Report of the Inquiry Committee into the Causes of Delay in Issuance of Machine Readable Passports, Report on the Accountant General of Pakistan Revenues, Breakdown of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
He informed that twelve federal agencies of Civil Aviation Authority, Federal Board of Revenue, Federal Investigation Agency, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Overseas Employment Corporation, Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Ministry of Health, National Database & Registration Authority, Pakistan International Airlines.
Corporation, Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, Airport Security Force, Health department, representatives of airlines and Anti-Narcotics Force will be available for help and facilitation of overseas Pakistanis and passengers.
He said that these facilitation desks are providing instant relief to the millions of overseas at Airports and so far 360 complaints at these airports have been resolved and there is no pending complaint at five one window facilitation desks. He said that the basic purpose of this One Window Facilitation Desk is to provide on spot resolution and to guide the passengers in case of difficulty at Airports. He said that in future complaints will be heard at airports if not resolved by agencies in 15 days.
