FATA Youth Festival: FR Kohat defeats Khyber Agency in hockey, rugby competitions

FR Kohat defeated strong Khyber Agency in hockey and rugby by taking gold medal in the ongoing First Governor FATA Youth Festival being played at different venues on Sunday. In the first FR Kohat eliminated Khyber Agency in the hockey final played at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium after a dramatically ended final. The match was witnessed by capacity crowd present on this occasion.
Secretary General FATA Olympic Association Shahid Khan Shinwari, Senior Vice President Engr. Saif Ul Islam, and Secretary FATA Hockey Association Ayub Khan were also present.
The final match was started with fast tempo and soon Khyber Agency took the lead through Shamus on the field attempt but soon was levelled by FR Kohat through Murad Ali.
After the score of 1-1 both the teams put in more pressure on each other defence but none of them could get any lead and thus the first half was ended 1-1 draw. It was the second session in which Khyber Agency again took the lead through Irfan but was levelled by Usman of FR Kohat on the field attempt.
Till the end of the stipulated 70-minute time both the teams were tied 2-2. It was the extra-time in which none of the team could cross and get certain result of the match they were awarded a sudden death time in which FR Kohat succeeded in winning the match when Murad scored another goal to make the tally 3-2.
In the Rugby final FR Kohat defeated strong Khyber Agency team by 8-7 goals. The two teams were tied 4-4 at the end of the first session play and it was the second session in which FR Kohat scored four more goals against three scored by Khyber Agency.
In the shooting competition Khyber Agency won gold medal, followed by Mohmand Agency and Bajaur Agency took third position on points. Secretary Sports and Social Affairs FATA Syed Zahir Ul Islam was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up.
International shooter Salman Afridi, Ammad Sherpao were also present on this occasion. The shooting contests were held in 22 Pistols 9MM pistols contests wherein Khyber Agency secured more points in both individual and team event.
In the Archery Khyber Agency got first position with Obaid and Haseeb Ullah gave stunning performances. FR Peshawar's Awal Khan and Munib got second position while FR Kohat Imran and Yousaf remained at third.
Secretary FATA Archery Association Manzoor Khan, Abid Rehman Afridi were also present on this occasion and gave away prizes. In the Football event being played at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium Khurram Agency defeated Khyber Agency by penalty kicks 5-4 before playing a goal-less draw in the stipulated 90-minute time while in the second semi-final FR Kohat defeated North Waziristan Agency by penalty kick on 7-6 before playing a 1-1 draw. Now the football final will be played between Khurram Agency and FR Kohat. Director Sports Tayyab Abdullah will grace the occasion as chief guest.
