The Karachi Port handled 181,822 tonnes of cargo comprising 156,402 tonnes of import cargo and 25,420 tonnes of export cargo including 5,994 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 156,402 tonnes comprised of 43,315 tonnes of containerised cargo; 276 tonnes of general cargo; 10,282 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,361 tonnes of DAP; 3,921 tonnes of SB meal and 102,529 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,420 tonnes comprised of 24,743 tonnes of containerised cargo and 677 tonnes of cement. As many as 5,994 containers comprising of 3,117 containers import and 2,877 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 835 of 20's and 1,087 of 40's loaded while 20 of 20's and 44 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 712 of 20's and 198 of 40's loaded containers while 109 of 20's and 830 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely OEL Dubai, Hanjin White, Hafnia Andromeda and NOCC Pamplona carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. Kota Kasturi, Corvette, Wieland, ACX Diamond, Afro Oak, Wingsail, Zhe Hai-515 and NOCC Pamplona carrying containers, oil tanker, fertiliser, and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Kota Kasturi and ACX Diamond carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday while three ships namely Corvette, Afro Oak and Med Glory carrying containers, oil tanker and cement respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were two vessels viz. Shalamar and CP Guangzhou carrying oil tanker and DAP respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while seven vessels viz. Hyundai Confidence, Sima Giselle, Bahamas, DL Aster, Itami, Sheng Shi and Glovis Composer carrying containers, oil tankers steel and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
