Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has expressed concern over the cut in "life saving gas quota" for industrial sector from 25 percent to 17 percent. Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz President FCCI said that cut in gas quota at this crucial time has multiplied the problems of textile exporters who were busy to meet their Christmas commitments. He said that it will not only force industrial sector to lay off the daily wagers but also result in increase of unemployment in the country.
Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, SVP FCCI told that last year after hectic deliberations it was decided that the industry will continue to get 25 percent of their sanctioned gas quota which was deemed necessary to continue the process of printing etc. Although during this period the gas pressure was further reduced yet the industrialist somehow managed to use alternate energy for their boilers while gas was sparingly used to run their important and gas fuelled machines.
