European Union regulators have ordered Estonia to recover 85 million euros ($91.31 million) in state aid granted to Estonian Air because this gave the loss-making national flag carrier an unfair advantage. The decision by the European Commission came after a near-three year investigation.
"Estonian Air therefore needs to pay back the state aid already received, which according to the Commission's information amounts to about 85 million euros plus interest, and cannot receive an additional 40 million euros of restructuring aid," the EU executive said on Saturday.
