Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday issued orders to make a clear standard operating procedure (SOP) to bring back Pakistani, who had been deported from different countries. The minister also took stock of progress in National Action Plan (NAP), registration of NGOs, removal of names from exit control list (ECL), renewal of arms licenses, Safe City Project, ongoing campaign against food adulteration in federal capital, security survey, law and order situation and others issues.
Secretary interior, director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), chairman national database and registration authority (Nadra), chief commissioner Islamabad, deputy commissioner and senior officials of Islamabad Police and interior ministry attended the meeting.
Nisar issued orders to both interior and foreign affairs ministries not accept any deported person unless it is proved that he is a Pakistani citizen. He set up a special committee to initiate contacts with foreign affairs ministry and Pakistani ambassadors abroad regarding deported Pakistanis in different countries. He said that it should be ensured that before issuing temporary journey documents from the foreign embassies to any exiled person, his documents must be confirmed by the interior ministry.
Regarding deportees, Nisar directed to prepare a clear policy paper in a coming week and send it to all the embassies, adding criminal elements would not be allowed to make Pakistan a dumping ground. It was informed to the meeting that after investigation it proved that a recently deported person namely Usman Ghani had no link with terrorism or with Peshawar incident.-PR
