President Mamnoon Hussain said that the government was taking solid steps for revival of national economy and had provided conducive environment to the investors by formulating comprehensive and liberal laws. Addressing the 13th Management Accountants International Conference on `Responsible Leadership for Sustainable Economy' held by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants here on Saturday, the President said some regional issues pervading over the last few decades had negatively impacted the national economy besides increasing the public woes.
He said in order to get rid of these issues, the government took several bold steps those were helping to create conducive environment for investment in the country. He said the government was formulating laws to facilitate the investors that had also made Pakistan a suitable destination for investment in the region. He said this was due to the very policies that local and international investors are getting attracted towards Pakistan.
President Mamnoon said China Pakistan Economic Corridor was also outcome of the same policies. As this corridor becomes functional, it would create more business opportunities. Then the country would need experts from different sectors to successfully exploit the business opportunities and the educational institutes should also start their preparations in this regard, he added. He said the CPEC and its allied projects would help build the national economy of strong footings. Realizing its importance, the Central Asian States have also started their preparations to benefit the CPEC.
The President said the wars fought in the region and terrorism had affected all the sectors besides inflicting huge loss to the economy. Actions based on comprehensive strategy were essential to rectify the situation, he added. Therefore, he said the government launched operation in various parts of the country under National Action Plan to eliminate terrorism, reiterating resolve to continue the action till the curb of last terrorist.
The President hoped that Pakistani nation especially the technocrats would lend a helping hand to the government and the armed forces in this strife. He said Pakistan desired friendly ties with all states in the region particularly the neighbours to bring prosperity in the region and eliminate extremism. In his welcome address, President ICMA Kashif Mateen Ansari highlighted the objective of the conference and functions of the institute.
