Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) approved the Industry Partnership Framework (IPF). The objective of IPF is to improve the quality and relevance of training provision through improved collaboration between private sector and training providers.
This decision was taken in 55th Tevta Board meeting held at Tevta Secretariat with Irfan Qaiser Sheikh in the chair. Chief Operating Officer Tevta Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, Board Members Chaudhry Hamid Malhi, Rehmat Ullah Javed, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Engr Azhar Iqbal Sheikh, Nilopher Sikandar and Tevta officers attended the meeting.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said on the occasion that project aims to cover a large number of areas including streamlining of certification body, institutional restructuring of Tevta, competency based training curricula and industry partnerships. The interventions will be targeted to training programs with relevance to the priority economic sectors as identified by Punjab government. It includes textiles and garments, light engineering, auto parts, surgical, cutlery, agricultural implants, construction, pharmaceuticals and food processing, small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These sectors face the most serious constraints in attracting, retaining and training appropriately skilled staff.
Chairperson Tevta further said that the results of these engagements have been extremely positive and one such agreement between Tevta Punjab and Crescent Bahuman Limited has already been initiated. After getting positive results, now after implementation of IPF, the focus will initially be on promoting partnerships between the private sector and public training providers.
It will increase the relevance of Tevta training provision. The partnerships between firms and private training providers will also be encouraged and supported. These efforts will not only ensure industrial growth but also provide job opportunities to the Tevta pass-outs, he concluded.
