Pakistan Railways is planning to recover millions of acres of land from illegal occupants after completion of the Land Record Management Information System (LRMS) - to be finalised by June 2016. Official sources in the Ministry told APP that the Railways would complete the management work of its land record under the modern arrangements aimed at evaluating exact position of its land and status across the country.
The LRMS, they said, would make it possible to provide accurate information about ownership, location and conditions of the PR property and land so that due course of action could be initiated for getting possession. "The ministry is hopeful that millions of acres of railways land will be recovered after the formation of system and transparency," they added.
The sources said, PR was also struggling to win the "Title of Land" in the name of the railways from the provinces and the work on the project has already been under progress on the directions of Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.
