Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan took oath on Saturday as the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan.

PM Khan was administered oath by the outgoing President Mamnoon Hussain at the President House. Caretaker PM Nasirul Mulk was also present beside the president. The PM arrived at the venue clad in a black sherwani alongside Spokesperson Naeemul Haq.

Almost all guests invited to the ceremony arrived at the venue before the ceremony commenced. Guests included First lady Bushra Maneka, Rameez Raja, Waseem Akram, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, singers Abrarul Haq, Salman Ahmed and Javed Sheikh among other political leaders. Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is among one of the special guests to be invited by the PTI chairman.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was also present for the ceremony. The COAS greeted the special guest cricketer from India.

According to the procedure the ceremony started off with the national anthem which was followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran.

On Friday, the PTI chairman emerged victorious after defeating Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif. Khan had bagged 176 votes to Sharif's 96. During his speech at the Parliament House, Khan reiterated to fulfill all promises he had made to the nation.

"I promise to my God that those who looted this country will be made accountable,” he said.
